Essentially a simple cube of stratified local vernacular stone, the design juxtaposes the symbolic with the practical, allowing the prayer niche to admit diffuse light from each side, and the highly sculptural, zinc-clad minaret to double as a light scoop, creating a profoundly spiritual dimension to the upper hall. Vertical floor to ceiling, deeply recessed slot windows admit light into each prayer hall, completing the design and visually balancing the old with the new.
